Sir Tim Smit KBE keynote speaker for AGM

We are pleased to present Sir Tim Smit KBE as keynote speaker for our AGM on 6 Nov 19, with his presentation: The coming of the second agricultural revolution & how J27 can become a shop window to the world.

Changing times in agriculture

Agriculture, like the rest of the world, is changing.

Sir Tim will discuss the rapid advances in agri-tech and also changing public attitudes towards agriculture, farmers and livestock management and production; he will explain how it has never been more important to inject excitement into this world, at a time when farmers are averaging the age of 60.

Junction 27 development as an opportunity

Sir Tim will introduce the Eden Westwood development plans at Junction 27 how it fits into this changing world and the opportunity it presents to become the South West's shop window to the world.

Our chance to engage with this significant development

Download the Eden Westwood brochure to help you understand the proposals and come along to our AGM to hear first hand from Sir Tim how development plans are progressing and how businesses from Northern Devon may engage.

Exciting developments in Northern Devon too

We also have a series of lightning talks for the evening which will cover the exciting developments in Northern Devon too:

Economic Opportunities for Northern Devon - a joint presentation by North Devon Council & Torridge District Councils on the exciting projects and initiatives in the area

An update on the business support facilities coming in Northern Devon - CoTIE, SWIoT & ND Enterprise Centre

Business Associates: Wollens Law - this event is supported by our Business Associates, Wollens, operating out of five locations across Devon, including Barnstaple, they have nearly 200 of the brightest minds, ready to advise on everything from agriculture to acquisitions and marine to marriage (and just about anything in between).

Their diverse team of brilliant people provide the full spectrum of legal services and specialist expertise across private and commercial matters.

Annual General Meeting

Of course the evening will include our Barnstaple & District Chamber of Commerce Ltd Annual General Meeting, so members can hear our reports for the year, however we will keep formalities to a minimum (as no election of officers is required this year), so as to give as much time as possible to the presentations of the evening.
