Barnstaple & District Chambers of Commerce regularly hold committee events, these provide opportunities for members to discuss any concerns, issues or ideas they have.
Through-out 2008 there are numerous events lined up encouraging business owners and residential individuals to support each other.

Childrens Hospice South West - Duck Day ... 09 August 2008
A flotilla of yellow ducks will be racing its way down the River Taw this summer to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West.
Organisers are busy putting together what is being billed as North Devon’s biggest ever duck race - and at high tide, Saturday August 9th they hope more than 2000 plastic quackers will be going bill-to-bill to win some top prizes for their owners,
“We want children, families, friends and businesses to adopt a duck” said project leader and fellow chamber member Ian Roome. “Most people remember the yellow duck as a child and we are hoping this will appeal to children of all ages. It’s not meant to be competitive but I am sure we will see some keen spectating”
The Ducks will be realised from the iron bridge in Barnstaple's Rock Park and also along the revitalised Square and Strand to provide a full programme of activity. Individuals can adopt a duck for just £, while the Barnstaple Chamber of Commerce has lent it’s support to the project to try and encourage local businesses to pay £10 to sponsor a duck.
